A Tale of Two Sisters

about

Back in April 2020 when the Covid pandemic was first hitting, I sent out an offer in my email newsletter to do commissions for people. Whatever you need a song about, I'll write and produce it. Birthdays, weddings, births, deaths, anniversaries, break ups, getting back together, leaving on a trip, returning home, a song about a pet, whatever you need, I got you.

This track is a commission I did for Aishanie. She reached out to me and asked if I could write a song for her sister.
Her sister was getting married and leaving her family in Delhi to go live with her husbands family in Mumbai.

So this is the song that I wrote and she said I could share it with y’all!

Enjoy.

Let me know if you want a custom song. They’re more affordable than you may think!

lyrics

VERSE 1 & 2
A black and yellow Fiat taxi cruises through the streets of Delhi
On a journey to the hospital to welcome a new life
A brother was the promise, but a sister was waiting in surprise
At four years old, Aishanie was let down
But soon enough she turned that frown upside down

As they grew, Vishwani and Aishanie did what sisters do
They laughed, they danced, they fought, they found romanced
They learned choreography in jazz ballet to the song Big Spender
Their teacher Nobu was so flamboyant–was he gay or a pretender?

CHORUS
Well Niku got his Vish, but know that you'll be missed
Vish was born second, but she's the number one sis
This song is wishing you all the best as you start a new chapter in your life
Leaving your folks, grandparents and a sis, you’ve jet off to Mumbai
Leaving your family in Delhi for a new one in Mumbai

Verse 3
Secret late night sessions under a blanket with American TV
Binge watching prison break and the OC
The sisters would stay up way too late studying for tests
Their dad would say, "Why don't you cheat so that you can get some rest?"

BRIDGE
They went to uni in London, but didn’t find no husbands
Aishanie moved to San Francisco; Vishwani came to visit
She discovered craft coffee and avocado toasts and said, “Back home we need this shit!”
So she opened up The Grammar Room
And she also found her groom
